Masking images and creating a scene Tutorial

Happy Monday everyone!  Today's tutorial is brought to you by our very own inkette Sammi!  She is going to show you how to mask your images and to create a scene.

Step one... Stamp first image... Angelica's Heart Socks...

 

 

 2. Create a mask - by stamping on some masking film (if you don't have any film then you can use a post-it note) ... cut around the image closely and then stick over your initial image.

3. After the first image is masked go ahead and stamp the second image (in this case Angelica's day dream) next to the first image... overlapping the mask.

 

 

You could stop there... peel the mask off and colour your image as normal... but I thought I would continue using masks to create a background/ scene.

So I drew in a brick wall for them to be sitting on.. masked it off, then I cut out some cloud shapes from the masking film and stick them on the picture too.. as below..

 

 

 I then used Copics to Airbrush the sky area...

 

This is what it looks like when all the masks are peeled off...

 

 

 So I went ahead and coloured the scene...

 

 

Then decided to crop it a little to fit this card (as below)...

Easel Card w/drawer Tutorial

1. Cut the following size pieces of cardstock (note the pictures use black cardstock but my project is in another color)

 

 

Box

2 - 4'' x 6 7/8''

1 - 6 3/4'' x 5 1/4''

Easel Card

1 - 8'' x 5 3/8''

1 - 4'' x 5 3/8''

2. Score the 4'' x 6 7/8'' piece of card at 3/4'' and 6 1/8'' on both pieces 

3.  Place glue the small edges of the each piece to each other

4. Form a wrap for the drawer to go in

5. Take the piece of cardstock that is 6 3/4'' x 5 1/4'' score 3/4'' in on each edge

6. Form the drawer (you may have to cut one slit on each corner to make flaps

7. Create the easel card by taking the 8'' x 5 3/8'' piece of cardstock and scoring at 4'' and 6''

8. Decorate the top and base of the easel card as desired.
